December 2008 Vol 1 No# 122
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very
happy Christmas break. The year ahead looks set to be challenging for everyone,
tourism included, but on the bright side the New Zealand dollar has
fallen sharply and is currently trading at US 52c. The NZ$ has come off
a high of US 78c - the difference is a big win for travelers coming our
way.
Jane has just spent a fantastic week in South Australia visiting
Adelaide and Kangaroo Island. See below for more details.
If your travel plans for 2009 include New Zealand, Australia or the South
Pacific islands, we would love to hear from you. If you have any friends
and family considering a trip, we would be grateful for your referral.
All the very best from the Team

Best known for its towering geysers, bubbling mud, silica terraces, strong
tradition of Maori culture and trout fishing, the lakeside town Rotorua
has something for almost everyone. Rotorua
Accommodation.
Increasingly visitors are also coming to enjoy the world class mountain
biking trails and action and adventure activities like Zorbing.
I would recommend purchasing a copy of NZ Camping on arrival (there are
separate books for the North and South Island) and ringing ahead to book
each day in the summer. Motorhomes will have brochures supplied from the
Top 10 and other Holiday Park groups but often the smaller private grounds
or DOC facilities have a more unique setting and are worth driving a little
further forOne of the city’s most popular attractions, the Zorb was invented
in Rotorua. Riders can zoom 200m downhill in a Zorbit, where they’re secured
with a harness. This ride provides maximum G-force for riders, who experience
a sensation of weightlessness each time they reach the top of the Zorb.
Visitors who don’t mind getting wet can try the Zydro – a cross between
a waterfall and a roller coaster – solo or with up to two friends. This
option, affectionately known as the ‘wash cycle’, is the most popular.
The Zorb course is
150m in length, and depending on conditions riders can reach speeds of up
to 50km/hr. Zorbing was voted number five in a list of the world's top 10
wild rides by Virtual Tourist.com in August 2008.

Australia News
Jane has just returned from a week in South
Australia looking at accommodations, tours and options for visitors
to this region. South Australia has so much to offer - great food and wine,
wildlife and scenery as well as heritage and a very good tourism infrastructure.
Jane spent part of her time on Kangaroo
Island which was a highlight. A two hour drive and a 45 minute ferry
boat trip from Cape Jervis to Penneshaw. Highlights of the Sealinks 3 day,
2 night Platinum Tour included Kelly Hills Limestone caves, Flinders Chase
National Park wildlife and the fresh water lobster farm and the Hanson Bay
Koala Sanctuary and Vivonne Bay - voted Australia’s most beautiful Beach
with turquoise water and golden sand.
South Australia is well known for it's food and Jane raved about the great
food everywhere they went! Adelaide
Central Market Tour.
